What local SEO actually is
When someone searches "plumber near me" or "hvac repair" plus a town, Google shows a map with three businesses first. That's the map pack, also called the 3-pack. Below it are the regular results. Local SEO is everything that decides whether your business is in those spots.
Google says local results are based mainly on relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance (how far you are from the person searching) and prominence (how well known and well reviewed you are). You can't move your shop, but you can work on the other two, and that's the job. Read the full breakdown in how to rank in the Google Maps 3-pack.
Why we measure from 25 points, not one
Your ranking changes block by block. You might be first on your own street and nowhere two miles away, where half your customers live. A single ranking number hides that.
So we search Google Maps from 25 points on a 5 by 5 grid around your business, the way a customer standing there would, every week. You see the same map we do. It's also how the Top-3 Promise works: on the Partnership plan, your monthly fee starts when 5 of the 25 squares show you in the top 3, confirmed on a second scan. The exact rules are on How we measure.
What we never do
Some local SEO shortcuts work for a few weeks and then get a profile suspended. We don't use them, because your Google profile is the most valuable thing you own online.
- No fake reviews, and no filtering out unhappy customers before they're asked.
- No keywords stuffed into your business name.
- No fake addresses or virtual offices.
- No fake clicks or GPS traffic to game the map.
- No long contract before you see results: on the Partnership plan, the six paid months only start once you're in the top 3.
If a provider promises a guaranteed #1, read what guaranteed rankings usually mean first.
Who it's for
Owner-led local service businesses that win work from nearby customers: plumbers, HVAC companies, electricians, roofers, pest control, landscapers, cleaning services, garage door companies, general contractors, remodelers, seawall and dock builders, pool builders, concrete contractors, fence companies, dentists, chiropractors, med spas, salons, auto repair shops, auto body shops, auto detailers, personal injury lawyers and family law attorneys.
We take one business per trade in each service area, so we never work for two competitors chasing the same customers. The audit tells you whether your area is open.
Questions owners ask
How long does local SEO take to work?
It depends on where you start, how strong the businesses ahead of you are and how far your customers are from you. Profile fixes can move rankings within weeks, while building reviews and prominence takes longer. Your free audit shows your starting point, and on the Partnership plan you pay no monthly fee until you reach the target.
Do I need to do anything?
Very little. We need manager access to your Google Business Profile, your domain pointed to the new website and answers to a few questions we can't verify ourselves, like your services and service areas. After that we do the work and send you a plain-English update every week.
Can you guarantee I'll rank first?
No one can honestly guarantee a ranking, and Google says so too. What we promise is about billing: on the Partnership plan you pay no monthly fee until you're in the top 3 in 5 of the 25 squares on your map, measured the way How we measure describes.
What if I already work with an SEO company?
We ask that only one company works on your Google profile and website, because two sets of changes make it impossible to know what worked. Many owners start with the free audit to see whether their current provider is moving the map.

- GuideHow to rank in the Google Maps 3-pack (2026)Google says local results are based mainly on three things: relevance, distance and prominence, and that there's no way to pay for a better local ranking. You can't move closer to every customer, so you rank higher on Google Maps by winning on what you control: the most specific primary category, a verified and complete profile, a steady flow of real reviews, accurate hours and a website with a page for each service. Then you track your rank on a grid, because it changes from one neighborhood to the next.
- GuideHow long does local SEO take? An honest answer (2026)There's no honest fixed timeline for local SEO. How long it takes depends on where you start, how strong the top 3 near you are, which phrase you want, where your customers search from, and how far behind you are on reviews. Profile fixes can be made in days, while closing a reviews gap and building a reputation across the web take longer, so track progress with weekly grid scans rather than one ranking number.
- GuideHow much does local SEO cost? 2026 prices and pricing modelsMost local SEO is sold as a monthly retainer, and recent surveys put typical retainers at roughly $500 to $3,000 a month, with hourly work at about $75 to $200 an hour. Ahrefs found that SEO providers serving local markets charged about $1,557 a month on average. More important than the price is what's included, how results are measured, and how long you're locked in before you see them.
