Local SEO for pest control companies

Pest control SEO: get found for the pest, the season and the plan

Pest control customers search for the pest in front of them, when it shows up: termite swarmers in spring, wasps and mosquitoes in summer, mice when the weather turns cold. The companies that win show up on Google Maps for those searches and then turn one-time calls into recurring service plans. Here's how to set that up.

What your customers search for

On Google

  • pest control near me
  • exterminator near me
  • termite inspection near me
  • bed bug exterminator [city]
  • mice in house exterminator
  • wasp nest removal near me
  • mosquito yard treatment near me
  • quarterly pest control service

To ChatGPT, Google's AI and Perplexity

  • Is quarterly pest control worth it, or should I just call when I see bugs?
  • What pest control treatments are safe for dogs and kids?
  • How much does termite treatment cost for a house?
  • Which exterminators near me are best for bed bugs?

The free audit checks your Google Maps rank for your main search from 25 points around your business, and asks the AI assistants about it too.

Pest searches follow the seasons, so your pages should too

Nobody searches for termite treatment in the abstract. They search when swarmers land on the windowsill or droppings turn up in the pantry. Your pages and your Google profile should be ready a few weeks before each wave.

SummerMosquitoes, wasps, ticksMosquito and stinging insect pages, posts on what you treat

Climate changes the calendar. A Gulf Coast company deals with termites and mosquitoes for more of the year than one in the upper Midwest, so match your posts and pages to your own region. On a managed profile, we post two to three times a week about what's active now.

Use the words customers use, inside Google's rules

Customers search for 'exterminator', 'pest control' and the name of the pest, so your website should use all three naturally. On Google, your primary category is Pest control service, and the primary category is the top map pack factor in Whitespark's 2026 survey. Add Bird control service only if you do bird work.

Termites, rodents, mosquitoes and bed bugs go in your profile's services list and on their own website pages. They don't go in your business name. Keywords in the name do show up as a ranking factor, but Google's guidelines don't allow extra words that aren't part of your real name, and we never add them.

A dedicated page for each service is the top local organic factor in the same survey. Each pest page should say how you treat it, how many visits it takes, what the customer must do to prepare, and how long pets and kids should stay out.

Licensing, safety and discretion

Customers want to know who is treating their home and whether it's safe for their kids and pets. Answer that before they ask.

  • Licensing. Federal law requires certification to apply restricted use pesticides, and many states require all commercial applicators to be certified. Show your license number on the site.
  • Safety. Explain products and re-entry times plainly on each pest page.
  • Discretion. Bed bug and rodent customers may not want a branded truck in the driveway. If you offer unmarked visits, say so.
  • Screening. Pest control is a Local Services Ads category, and Google's screening requires a criminal background check for every owner, and for workers in applicable categories. If your techs are background-checked, say so on your site too.

Turn one-time calls into recurring plans

The emergency call pays once, and the plan pays every visit. Your website should make the plan easy to understand: what's covered, the visit schedule, what happens if pests come back between visits, and how to cancel.

Plan customers are also your steadiest source of reviews, and fresh reviews matter: BrightLocal's 2026 survey found 74% of consumers want to see reviews from the last three months. Ask after the first service, when the results are obvious, and keep asking through the year.

People ask AI assistants whether a quarterly plan is worth it and which treatments are pet safe. A plain answer on your site, with your company name and service area, is something ChatGPT or Google's AI can cite. We check every month whether they do, as part of AI search optimization.

The Top-3 Promise

No monthly fee until you're in the top 3.

On the Partnership plan you pay $0 a month until your business is in Google's top 3 on the map in 5 of the 25 squares around it, confirmed on two scans at least 48 hours apart. We take one pest control company in each service area, so we never work for the business down the road. How the Top-3 Promise works.

Questions pest control companies ask

How long does it take to rank higher for pest control searches?

It depends on how many companies compete near you, how many reviews they have and where your profile starts. Starting before your busy season gives changes time to take hold. The free audit shows your starting point in minutes, and on the Partnership plan the Top-3 Promise means no monthly fee until you reach the agreed top-3 target.

Should I have separate pages for termites, rodents and bed bugs?

Yes. Each pest is searched for by name, treated differently and bought differently, from an urgent bed bug call to a termite inspection for a home sale. One page per service gives Google and the customer a clear match.

Can I put 'exterminator' in my Google business name?

Only if it's part of your real business name, on your signs and paperwork. Google's rules don't allow adding keywords that aren't part of your real name. Use the word on your website and in your services list instead, where it helps and breaks no rules.

Will you work with another pest control company near me?

No. GrowLevel takes one business per trade in each service area, so we never help a pest control company competing with you for the same customers.
