AI search optimization
Get recommended when customers ask AI who to call
More customers now ask ChatGPT, Google's AI answers or Perplexity which local business to call. Those assistants recommend businesses they can find clear, consistent facts about, usually from websites, Google profiles and trusted directories. We build your site and profile so they can quote you, and every month we check whether they mention or cite you.

What's included
Part of every GrowLevel plan, done for you.
Facts stated the same way everywhere
Your name, services, areas, hours and contact details match on your website, your Google profile and the directories assistants read.
Answer-first service pages
Each page answers the questions customers ask in plain words, with the details an assistant can quote.
Reviews and reputation
Assistants lean on review sites and ratings. We help you earn reviews steadily and answer every one.
A monthly AI check
Each month we ask ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity the questions your customers ask, and show you who they named.
How AI assistants pick a local business
AI assistants don't have a secret list. They search the web, read what they find and summarize it. For local questions, that means business websites, Google profiles, review sites and "best of" lists. In BrightLocal's 2026 study of 200,085 local searches across ChatGPT and Google's AI features, business websites were 42% of the sources cited, and Google Business Profiles were about 29%.
So the work that helps you in AI search is mostly the same work that helps you in local search: a site with a clear page for each service, a complete profile and a steady stream of reviews. Google says there are no extra requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode beyond being indexed and eligible for a snippet.
What we check every month
We ask each assistant the questions a customer would, for your main service and area, and record three things for each one:
- Recommended or mentioned: did it name your business?
- Cited: did it use your website as a source?
- Cited instead: which sites it relied on, so we know where your facts need to show up.
No one can promise a particular AI answer, and the answers change from day to day, so we report what we find rather than a score we made up.
What doesn't move AI answers
Be careful with anyone selling AI tricks. Google says its Search doesn't use llms.txt files, and there's no published evidence that the other big assistants rely on them. Structured data helps search engines understand a page, but it isn't a lever that makes an assistant recommend you. Clear facts, real reviews and a good page for each service do the heavy lifting.
The full playbook is in how to get your business recommended by ChatGPT.
Questions owners ask
Is AI search optimization an extra cost?
No. It's included in every plan, alongside the website and Google profile management, because the same work drives both.
Which AI assistants do you check?
Every month we check ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. The free audit also looks at Google AI Mode.
Can you make ChatGPT recommend me?
No one can promise that, and anyone who does is guessing. We make sure the facts assistants look for are clear and consistent, then show you every month whether they mention or cite you.
What's the difference between AEO, GEO and SEO?
AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) are newer names for getting chosen by AI answers. SEO is getting found in search results. For a local business they overlap heavily, so we treat them as one job.

- GuideHow to get your business recommended by ChatGPT and Google's AI (2026)ChatGPT and Google's AI recommend local businesses that they can find described clearly and the same way across the web: on your website, your Google Business Profile, review sites and directories. There is no special file or code that gets you picked, and Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode have no extra requirements beyond normal search. What helps is what helps customers too: consistent facts, a page for each service, plenty of real reviews, and a place on the lists and directories assistants read.
- GuideDo I need a website if I have a Google Business Profile?Yes. Your Google Business Profile helps you show on the map, but your website is what ranks in the regular local results below it, what AI assistants cite most often when they recommend local businesses, and where your profile sends people who want to know more before they call. It's also the only part of your online presence you actually own.
- GuideHow to get more Google reviews (and stay within Google's rules)Ask every customer, soon after the job, with a direct link to your Google review form, and make it a routine rather than a one-time push. Don't offer anything in return and don't ask only the happy ones: Google bans both, and the FTC can seek penalties for fake reviews and for rewards tied to positive ones. How many reviews you need depends on the top 3 businesses near you, not on a fixed number.
