Local SEO for personal injury lawyers

Personal injury lawyer SEO: more cases from Google

Someone hurt in a crash or a fall needs a lawyer they can trust, quickly, and many start with a search. The firms that get the call show up on the map near the client, have reviews and a plain explanation of how fees work, and stay inside the bar's advertising rules while they do it. Here's what that takes.

Search is where injured people find a firm

Bar rules limit how a firm can reach accident victims directly. In Florida, for example, a lawyer may not send direct mail to a prospective client within 30 days of an accident, and in-person solicitation of strangers is prohibited. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld that 30-day wait in 1995.

That makes being found the main way in. When someone searches for a car accident lawyer, the firms on the map and at the top of the results are the ones they see first, and the firm whose site answers their questions plainly is the one they trust.

Stay inside the advertising rules

Every state bar regulates lawyer advertising, and a firm's website is part of it. A few rules that trip firms up:

  • No specialist claims you can't back up. Under the ABA's model rule, a lawyer may not state or imply they're certified as a specialist unless an approved organization certified them. Your state's version may be stricter.
  • Name a responsible lawyer. The same rule requires the name and contact information of at least one lawyer responsible for the content.
  • Careful with results and testimonials. States differ on how past verdicts and client reviews may be shown, and on the disclaimers they need. Check your bar's rules before you publish any.

Your firm stays responsible for what its website says, so review new pages against your state's rules before they go live.

Google Business Profile setup for an injury firm

Personal injury attorney names the work, and the primary category is the top map pack factor in Whitespark's 2026 survey. Google's guidelines treat lawyers as individual practitioners: a lawyer who meets clients at the office during its hours can have their own profile, but shouldn't have several profiles for different practice areas. A solo lawyer at a branded firm should share one profile with the firm, named like "Firm Name: Lawyer Name".

  • List each case type as a service: car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, slip and fall, wrongful death. Only the cases you take.
  • Use the office you actually work from. Google's guidelines don't allow a profile for a virtual office the firm doesn't operate from.
  • Answer the phone, or have intake answer it, at every hour you list.
  • Reply to reviews without ever confirming that the reviewer was a client. More on that below.

Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. Our weekly scans from 25 points around your office show where in your area you show up on the map, and where other firms come first.

Reviews, replies and AI answers

Ask clients for a review when the case closes, by email with a direct link. BrightLocal's survey found 74% of consumers want to see reviews from the last three months, so keep asking as cases wrap up. Then be careful how you reply. The ABA's ethics committee says a lawyer can't reveal confidential client information to answer a negative review, and suggests a reply such as "Professional obligations do not allow me to respond as I would wish." When we reply to reviews for a law firm, we thank people without confirming that anyone was a client.

People also ask AI assistants whether they need a lawyer, how fees work and how long they have to file. In Florida, for example, a lawsuit founded on negligence must generally be filed within two years. A site that answers those questions accurately for your state, with your fee terms in plain words, is what an assistant can cite. Each month we check whether ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and Perplexity mention you, as part of AI search optimization.

Questions personal injury lawyers ask

How long does SEO for a personal injury firm take to work?

It depends on how many firms compete in your area, how established they are and where you start, so a fixed promise would be a guess. Injury law is one of the most competitive local searches there is. The free audit shows your current map ranking from 25 points in minutes. On the Partnership plan, the Top-3 Promise means you pay no monthly fee until you reach the agreed top-3 target.

Can a law firm's website show reviews and case results?

Often yes, with conditions that vary by state, such as disclaimers or limits on how results are described. Check your state bar's rules first. Linking to your Google reviews is usually simpler than pasting quotes onto your site.

Should each case type have its own page?

Yes. Someone hurt in a truck crash searches for a truck accident lawyer, not a general injury firm. A page for each case type you take, with what to do next and how your fees work, is easier for Google to match and for an AI assistant to cite.

How should a law firm reply to a bad review?

Without revealing anything about the client or the case. The ABA's ethics opinion on online criticism says lawyers can't disclose confidential information to rebut a review, and suggests a short, neutral reply or none at all.

Will you work with another injury firm in my area?

No. GrowLevel takes one business per trade in each service area, so we never work for a personal injury firm competing with you for the same clients.
